Tomide Oloruntobi, PhD
Tomide Oloruntobi, PhD is a transnational Nigerian scholar specializing in intercultural and transnational communication at the Hugh Downs School of Human Communication, Arizona State University, Tempe. His research focuses on transnational capital flows, global Black relationalities, and identity politics in diverse Black and African communities. Tomide's dissertation examines the reception of Nollywood by transnational and global audiences, and its implications for cultural and media politics within Nigeria. In addition to his research and teaching, Tomide maintains a strong connection to Nigeria through his love for party jollof rice or efo riro, complete with sufficient pomo and “actually pounded” yam. His passion for Nigerian visual culture and communication practices remains central to his work, as he continues to make his research accessible and engaging for a wider audience.
