Omotayo Banjo, PhD

Omotayo Banjo, PhD is a second-generation Nigerian-American, born to Nigerian immigrants in Washington D.C. In typical Yoruba style, she achieved the highest degree in the land obtaining her Ph.D. in Mass Communication. She studies the social psychological and cultural impacts of media. Her research has primarily focused on entertainment produced by Black diasporic  creatives, centering these stories as significant sites of understanding the undertones of popular culture. As a creative, she converted her scholarly inquiry into an accessible documentary and serves as creative executive producer.
